CNN Sheds More Light On How Soldiers Killed Many #Endsars Protesters At Lekki Toll Gate In New Investigation (Video)
Top Leading News Agency, Cable News Network (CNN) has given a full account of how the Lekki Toll Gate shooting happened while confirming youths were really killed by soldiers.
On the 20th of September 2020, the Nigerian army opened fire on peaceful protesters at Lekki Toll Gate, killing many while leaving many more injured, thanks to videos from DJ Switch’s live Instagram and videos from other people present at the moment, Nigerians all over the world could see what was happening.
However, the army denied ever visiting the venue, then admitted they did go there but didn’t shoot at protesters, next governor Babjide Sanwo Olu agreed the soldiers were indeed present and shot at protesters but only two people died and they were no trace of blood – that was after he had denied anything of such, all these happened less than a month ago.
An investigation by CNN into the disputed events has however opened up more questions as to why the government has been changing their narratives. Evidence of bullet casings from the scene match those used by the Nigerian army when shooting live rounds, according to current and former Nigerian military officials. Verified video footage — using timestamps and data from the video files — shows soldiers who appear to be shooting in the direction of protesters. And accounts from eyewitnesses establish that after the army withdrew, a second round of shooting happened later in the evening.
