Manchester United were left feeling deflated after being held to a 1-1 draw by Burnley at Turf Moor.

Ralf Rangnick’s side thought they had the lead after just 12 minutes when Raphael Varane headed past Nick Pope. But an on-field VAR review from referee Mike Dean resulted in the goal being disallowed due to a foul from Harry Maguire in the build-up.

United did take the lead just six minutes later as Paul Pogba fired a Luke Shaw pull-back into the roof of the net for his first goal in over a year.

The visitors once again had the ball in the net after Ben Mee deflected a Marcus Rashford cross past Pope, yet Pogba was deemed to have fouled Erik Pieters in the process.

Sean Dyche’s side sprung out the traps after the interval and quickly drew level after great hold-up play from Wout Weghorst to play in Jay Rodriguez, who produced a composed finish past David De Gea.
